We always appreciate visiting this wonderful live music restaurant. Been there various evening eating delicious Greek home made recipes and listening to inspiring musicians playing different Greek musics

Really enjoyed the food and the vibe. Authentic dishes, great quality. We tried the mushrooms, fried zucchini and an egg/feta dish. We came in without reservation, and managed to get a spot, because we were early. There was live music, I loved the setup.

Just go! Great authentic food. We were there on live music night. Highly recommend!

I've been visiting it in recent years. one of the best Taverns in Athens, that expresses the Athenian folk music of rebetiko. Giannis, the owner of the tavern, always chooses his musicians with passion. Sometimes he sings too. The place is large with a yard and clean from the moment they stopped smoking inside .. in the past smoking was a problem. I was a fan of the tavern-sister Koutarou (the same owner) and I think it is more original but it has no place to dance. The food in Metaxou is good, without anything extraordinary but the ambiance, the company, the fun and of course the musicians who play live justify the prices. Thank you Giannis for so many beautiful nights we spent and spend together.

Visited two days in a row--first experience was lovely, and encouraged a second visit. The vibe is spectacular. No matter whether you come for the first or the hundredth time, it is easy to feel like you belong here. The atmosphere is even more amazing when the taverna features live performances. The staff is extremely well spoken, kind, and knowledgeable, albeit not as fast as one would hope once the place fills up completely. The food is simple but not basic, cooked with attention to detail, and with a twist. The food is also delicious and extremely well priced. No reason not to visit, again, and again, and again. Just understand that each evening they have live music, prices per dish go up by about 2 EURO. So, evenings Thursday ursday through Sunday are a bit more expensive.

Metaxou exceeded our expectations, Visited yesterday with my "grandma" to eat the traditional dish of 25th March, salt cod and garlic dip, The dish was amazing, the cod was spectacular and the garlic dip was as it needs to be, We also tried the "Dako" Cretan salad with the oven potatoes and both of them were great, they were great together! The zucchini balls were a bit salty when you tried them alone and spicy when you had them with the accompanying sauce, The service was a bit slow but was kinda expected as the place was fairly crowded! A plus was the live music, loved that it was like they were playing for us (as they were right in front of us) Keep up the good work Metaxou, we'll be back!

What an experience! I was absolutely mesmerised by the music. We went with a large group on a Saturday night. We arrived at 20:00 (too early for Greece). The mezes were amazing! Especially the Fava and Stew (I don’t remember the name of it, but it was similar to goulash) Life music started at 22:00 and that’s also when the place started being packed. Everything was perfect
